Menopause Training for Managers and HR Professionals
October 18, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Following the success of our first session we are pleased to be delivering again one of the country’s first legal and clinically led courses for managers and HR professionals on the subject of menopause in the workplace
Education is one of the most important ways an organisation can support menopause at work. With six in ten women acknowledging that the menopause has had a negative impact on their ability to work and over 50% of women failing to tell their employer that menopause is the reason for their workplace absence, taboos around the menopause remain prevalent.
Our aim is to raise the bar and help employers set the standard for supporting employees affected by menopause in the workplace.
The training has been developed to give both male and female managers and HR professionals the knowledge, confidence and tools to support colleagues by providing an in-depth understanding of the menopause and their employment law obligations. Attendees will be equipped with the facts and information to effectively support and manage menopause in the workplace.
The training will be delivered by Caroline Neadley, a partner at Rollits with over 20 years experience advising on employment law, who is also a trained Menopause Advocate and Consultant Nurse Practitioner Tracey Dennison, who recently launched the country’s first clinically-led Menopause Advocacy programme and is a member of the British Menopause Society, the International Menopause Society and the British Society for Lifestyle Medicine, Associate of the Newsome Health Menopause Society.
The training will be interactive and provide:-
- An understanding of the symptoms of menopause, the range of health issues that can emerge during the menopause and how they can effect employees in the workplace;
- Guidance on how to create an open culture and safe environment for employees to discuss the menopause;
- Confidence to managers to approach conversations about the menopause;
- A detailed explanation of how employment legislation impacts on decision-making, including the various forms of discrimination that can potentially arise;
- Details of recent case law decisions;
- Guidance on the content and benefits of a Menopause Policy;
- A case study on how to set the standard and raise the bar.
As women work for longer, they are demographically the fastest growing group of workers in the UK and there has never been a more important time to understand the subject of menopause to support and retain women in their employment.
Delegate feedback from our last event described the training as:-
“An interactive and perfectly balanced session for HR professionals and managers. Caroline with her extensive employment law experience outlines how menopause can impact the workplace with useful statistics and some example discrimination cases. This is followed by Tracey, an experienced health professional who explains how menopause impacts the individual, what practical support can be put in place and some best practice examples. Both effortlessly answer questions throughout from their respective specialisms which makes the session not only informative but does give you some practical things to consider implementing in the workplace straight away.”
