The new right to request a more predictable working pattern scrapped?

  • Posted on

The right for individuals to request a more flexible working pattern was due to come into force in September 2024 pursuant to The Workers (Predictable Terms and Conditions) Act 2023.

It would have given eligible workers the right to request a predictable working pattern. However, following the change in government, The Department for Business and Trade has recently confirmed that it has no plans to bring the Act into force.

The Labour government does intend to introduce a new right to a contract that reflects the number of hours regularly worked as part of their significant employment law reforms. Along with the other proposals Labour has mentioned, we will have to wait for further detail potentially in the form of draft legislation.
