Career
Graduating from Keble College Oxford in 1980 with an MA Jurisprudence, Douglas attended law school at Lancaster Gate before returning north to serve his articles at a Leeds law firm and was admitted as a solicitor in 1983.
He then worked for several other firms in Yorkshire prior to joining Rollits in York in 2002, and was promoted to Partner four years later.
Expertise
Douglas is a highly experienced Property Lawyer with almost 40 years’ experience of dealing with commercial leases from the point of view of the Landlord and the Tenant. He is also involved with development work in terms of Site Assembly, drafting Options and Overage Agreements, dealing with a full range of property transactions both sales and purchases of agricultural land and commercial property.
He also has significant expertise in Social Housing property matters advising both charitable and non-charitable Registered Providers on property related matters and again this includes Site Assembly, drafting Management Agreements, dealing with Shared Ownership Leases, Restricted Price Covenant Schemes and both Freehold and Leasehold acquisitions and disposals. He also deals with funding arrangements from the Property side for Registered Proprietors.
