Celebrate Hulls Born and Bred at Business week
Lemsip, Aunt Bessie's,Air Wick, Ideal Standard and ARCO are among many famous brands andbusinesses who proudly claim to be 'Hull Born andBred'.
And while there has never beena better time to invest in the region, with one of the fastestgrowing digital sectors outside of London and pioneering growth ingreen energy industries, an event as part of the Humber BusinessWeek 2015 programme will provide an insight into one successfulbusiness that can trace its own roots in Hull.
Speaking at the 'Hull Born andBred' event will be Jonathan Leafe, Managing Director ofStrawberry. Now one of the region's leading full service creativeand digital agencies Strawberry was originally founded in Hull in1993. Strawberry also holds a firm belief in nurturing young talentand through 'StrawberryToo' launched an agency staffed entirely byapprentices and graduates.
Jonathan Leafe said: "Backin 1993, Strawberry opened its doors with a team of two. Fastforward to over 20 years later and Strawberry has grown to a teamof 35 highly talented individuals serving a varied client portfolioincluding local, national and international public and privatesector organisations.
"We are also committed toinvesting in our team and to source and attract the best talent inour area, which is why, in 2014, we launchedStrawberryToo.
"StrawberryToo is asmaller creative and digital agency which is staffed entirely bylocal apprentices and graduates with an aim to train, mentor anddevelop our creative stars of the future."
Attendees will also hear aboutHull College's Talent Ambassador Scheme which offers employersopportunities to engage with students and for early identificationof young talent for their own future workforce, including guesttalks and presentations, work experience placements and livestudent commissioned projects.
'Run With It', a localorganisation, will also showcase how using the stimulatingenvironment of the KC Stadium can improve children's attitudes andmotivation towards literacy and numeracy and the importance ofEnglish and maths for young people to compete in today's labourmarket.
And as our 175th Anniversaryapproaches in 2016, we will outline a brief history of the firmwhich started with John Rollit, who founded the practice at No. 2Bowlally Lane in the heart of Hull's old town in 1841.
The event will take place on 2June 2015 in Charlottes Restaurant, Hull College, Queens Gardensfrom 12.30 to 2.30pm.
