Macmillan Charity Race Day at York Racecourse
On Saturday, 14 June 2014, ateam of 25 volunteers from Rollits gave up their time to help withfundraising at the Macmillan Race Day at York Racecourse raisingfunds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The team were at theracecourse all day and undertook a variety of tasks from sellingraffle tickets to bucket collections. One team member, ChrisDrinkall, even volunteered to dress up as the charity's mascot anddid a superb job as "Hero"!
The Macmillan Race Day at YorkRacecourse is the charity's single biggest fundraising event inthis region, and has now raised almost £6 million to ensure that noone should have to face cancer alone.
This fabulous day at theracecourse was a huge success and this year the sum raised in oneday exceeded £340,000.
Macmillan was founded in 1911by Douglas Macmillan and is a registered charity. Theyprovide practical, medical and financial support and push forbetter cancer care for all those diagnosed with thedisease.
