Rollits advises on deal to secure future of York hotel

Rollits has advised Andy Clayand Rob Sadler of Begbies Traynor LLP, the joint Administrators ofJudges Lodgings Limited, on the sale of the Judges Lodgings Hotelin York to brewer Daniel Thwaites plc for £1.5 million.

The 14-bedroom hotel datesback to the 18th Century and has had numerous uses over the yearsincluding a private residence and the official residence for judgeswhen sitting in York.

Its use as a hotel began in1976 and was further redeveloped to include a cellar bar andrestaurant but unfortunately the hotel went into administration inJanuary 2012.

The Rollits team was led bycorporate partner Nasim Sharf, who said: "The Administrators tradedthe business until its recent sale and Rollits were pleased to beable to help them achieve the successful sale of this historichotel"

Nasim was assisted byassociate Craig Engleman. Other members of the Rollits teamincluded Alison Munro and Richard Stirk (property) Lottie Pigg andEd Jenneson (employment), Andrew Digwood and James Peel(commercial and intellectual property).

Joint administrator Andy Clayof Begbies said: "It is great news that one of the city's oldestand most prestigious venues will continue to trade. We werevery pleased to work with the expert team at Rollits on thistransaction who gave excellent support and advicethroughout."

Peter Bean, the renownedhotels expert at Colliers International (which is the world's thirdlargest commercial real estate organisation) acted as the sellingagent on the sale.
