Rollits Announce 2017 Art Award Winner

Rollits is pleased to announce that Julia Lingard-Ward (Level 3 Fine Art) has been awarded this year's "Rollits Art Award 2017" at the School of Art and Design, Hull College, for her self- portrait studies.

The standard of work at the College was again of such a high standard that two other students received awards, Lucy Bedford who is on a Specialist Ceramics and Glass course was chosen as runner-up and Emily Tuffy (Access to HE, A&D Fashion) was also nominated as 'Highly Commended".

The School of Art and Design is located at the Queens Gardens site and its new HU1 Visual Arts Studio is a hub of creativity and innovation, with excellent onsite facilities which include multimedia graphic design suites and purpose built workshops so that students can work digitally or with textiles, paints, 3D materials and ceramics.

This centre is complemented by the Hull School of Art and Design facility, also at the Queen's Gardens site.

Pat Coyle, Marketing & Client Relations Director at Rollits LLP said: "We have sponsored the Rollits Art Award at The School of Art and Design, Hull College since 2012 and are always amazed at the calibre of the student's work - each year it seems to get better and better.

"Choosing the overall winner is not easy as the standard of work is so good and so varied. We viewed the work of the students at their end of year show - everything from ceramics to textiles - and the quality of work impressed us so much that we found it very difficult to choose just one winner.

"We finally chose Julia as the recipient of the 2017 Award for her stunning self-portrait work, and recommended two further students to be nominated as 'Highly Commended'.
