Rollits help Cooplands save jobs

We are pleased to have advised Coopland & Son(Scarborough) Limited, the Scarborough-based bakery business, onits acquisition of 22 shops, a fleet of around 10 retail vans and a50,000 sq. ft bakery in County Durham from the administrators ofPeters Cathedral Bakers Limited.

The deal sees Cooplands continue its expansion drive byincreasing its store count to over 130 shops, in addition to its 11cafes, located in and around Yorkshire, Lincolnshire andTeesside.

The deal saves 208 jobs.

Paul Coopland, Managing Director of Cooplands, will now leadthe rebranding of the Peters` business. He said:

"This is an exciting acquisition. It has safeguarded manyjobs in and around Durham and the North East and will enableCooplands to continue to expand beyond its existing boundaries. Wewere pleased to work with Rollits. They provided expert corporatefinance and legal advice, as they did on our acquisitions ofSkeltons of Hull, Ainsleys of Leeds and Woodheads ofScarborough."

The Rollits` team was led by corporate partner Nasim Sharfassisted by Julian Wild (corporate finance) and included GlennCraft (property), Donna Ingleby (employment), Craig Engleman(pensions) and Kate Dixon (corporate).
