Rollits support the York Legal Walk

A team of intrepid walkers from Rollits will be taking part in the York Legal Walk on 1 May.

The Walk, supported by the Yorkshire Union of Law Societies, is a 10km sponsored walk around the city to raise money for local advice services and forms part of the Three Walks Challenge, an event being organised in conjunction with the legal communities in Sheffield and Leeds.

The need for free legal advice centres has grown in the past few years. The recession has increased poverty and reduced support services, whilst funding for the advice centres themselves has reduced. Advice agencies do a fantastic job in preventing homelessness, resolving debt problems, gaining care for the elderly and disabled and fighting exploitation and the money raised from the Three Walks Challenge will help keep the agencies operating and try to ensure their services are as effective as possible.

Eight lawyers from the firm's office in Monks Cross will make up #TeamRollits.

York Partner Andrew Digwood, who organised the participation by Rollits said "All of us on the Rollits team are looking forward to getting out on the walk to raise money for the Yorkshire Legal Support Trust, who provide funding to enable some of the most vulnerable people in our region to have access to legal advice and support. This is often needed at extremely challenging times in their lives.

"As lawyers we know how important it can be for our clients to get the right advice at the right time, and sadly for a lot of people in real need, that simply isn't possible without the help of organisations like the Yorkshire Legal Support Trust. As well as the fundraising, it's also a great opportunity to get our team out into the fresh air after work and enjoy a walk around York with friends and colleagues."
